http://www.autobytel.com/gmc/sierra-1500/2014/ Road Test Editor Benjamin Hunting takes the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 on a Glamping Excursion. Sponsored by GMC, the Glamping Experience puts editors behind the wheel of this newly released truck as they tow a 23-foot Airstream trailer from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara. For the 2014 Model Year, GMC introduced an all new 3rd generation truck and is a critical part of the company's strategy moving forward. Every single aspect of this pickup has been revised for the better including 3 all new power plants, an updated interior, a striking exterior, and tons of new technology. The base price on a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 is $32,215. The model reviewed here is an SLT with the Z71 4x4 off-road package.GMC has made some nice styling upgrades to the 2014 Sierra 1500. What you notice right away is just how buff and muscular the truck looks thanks to all the ridges, hard angles, and flares along the fenders and hood. Even the grill looks tough and is reminiscent of past GMC pickups. The overall combination says both work truck and classy pickup at the same time. Out back there in a step integrated into the bumper for easy access to the pickup bed. The box itself has a slow release tailgate, under rail led lighting, and integrated tie down points.Under the hood there is a lot of improvement most notably to the 3 different engines options. The 4.3 liter V-6, 5.3 liter V-8, and 6.2 liter V-8 all may sound familiar but in reality these 3 engines have been dramatically redesigned with variable valve timing, direct injection, and cylinder deactivation. The Z71 off-road package is back too upgrading the suspension to become more 4x4 capable. One of the nicest things about the 2014 GMC Sierra is the interior. The SLT trim level tested here gets handsome fabrics, nice stitching, leather everywhere, and comfortable seats. The steering wheel is heated, wrapped in leather, and has various controls integrated on it. GMC has always given their line of trucks a premium feel and the 2014 Sierra continues this heritage. The GMC MyLink incorporates Bluetooth, Infotainment, and navigation all integrated into one easy to use system. As part of the Glamping Experience, GMC had Editors towed trailers that weights over 5k pounds and is over 20ft long. During the entire drive, the 2014 GMC Sierra had not problems whatsoever. The Electronic Stability Control System comes equipped with an Anti-trailer Sway Control system. There are also trailer brakes that can be modulated from within the cabin. Ben put the trailer through its paces while attached to the Sierra and the truck performed quite well.See More Car Videoshttp://www.autobytel.com/car-videos/Join Our Facebook Pagehttp://www.facebook.com/autobytel
