Chevy's mid-sized sedan was redesigned for 2013 but when it hit the market it went head-to-head with redesigned versions of the Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, and the Nissan Altima. So Chevy has once again updated the car to make it more competitive. The base model 2014 Chevrolet Malibu starts at $22,340 with the top of the line 2LZ costing $29,950.

Does Chevy's updated Malibu have what it takes to go against the heaviest hitters in the mid-sized sedan segment? The main changes on the exterior occur upfront with a redesigned grille, different fascia, and different headlights. For the most part the rest of the body is carried over from the 2013 model year.

Under the hood is an all-new 2.5 liter EcoTec 4-cylinder engine that makes 196 horsepower and 191 lb-ft. of torque. The motor features a start-stop system and direct-injection. The transmission is a 6-speed automatic. Fuel economy is rated at 25 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway.
