Today, we’re talking trucks starting with the beefy Nissan Titan XD.
Nissan goes all up, all in, in full size trucks, with the introduction of the Titan XD. It features a 5.0-liter Cummins turbodiesel V8 that generates 555 lb.-ft. of torque with towing capability of up to 12,000 lbs. It’s scheduled to go into production in the near future, with a to-be-determined price tag. It will be offered in gas engine models too, and it comes with a nice roster of tech features.
The F-150 Ford Raptor rolled out to an enthusiastic Detroit crowd, and with it, more than 411 horses and 434 lb.-ft. of torque from its new 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6. Also new is the 10-speed automatic transmission which matches up nicely with the Raptor’s Terrain Management system. We love the Raptor’s racing shocks and wider stance.
The new Toyota Tacoma gets a quick refresh to attempt to maintain its spot at the top of the midsize truck segment, and Toyota says a new 3.5-liter V-6 is in the works that promises better efficiency, but we’re not exactly sure how much horsepower that will ultimately mean. The new Tacoma boasts a more comfortable suspension, and revised interior and exterior styling.
The Ram 1500 Rebel is definitely rebellious when it comes to styling. We love the humungous front grille and blacked out trim. It also boasts new bumpers and a flared hood, and under that hood, we’re talking a 305 horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6, or an optional 395 horsepower, 5.7-liter V-8. The Rebel is an off-road hellion, with 33-inch tires, skid plates, tow hooks, and Bilstein shocks.
The Chevy Colorado is a sharp looking truck, and we’d be remiss if we didn’t talk about all its tech gadgets – from OnStar 4G LTE connectivity with a mobile Wi-Fi hot spot, to collision and lane departure warnings. With its standard four-cylinder, 200 horsepower engine, you get 27 mpg highway, and with its 305 horsepower V6, you get 26 mpg highway and up to 7,000 lbs. of towing capacity.
This is Michelle Naranjo with Autobytel and that’s your Fab Five Trucks of the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.
