Today, we’re talking Sedans & Luxury Cars starting with Volvo.

We fell in love with the look of the Volvo S60 Cross Country Sedan, with its rugged demeanor and 2.5-inch higher stance than the standard S60 Sedan. Some say this is Volvo’s answer to the four-door crossover coupes we see coming out of Germany. Under the hood, it’s equipped with a 2.5-liter, 250 horsepower five-cylinder turbo. The S60 Cross Country is available this summer.
The Hyundai Genesis gives Mercedes-Benz and Lexus a run for their money, not only from an aesthetic perspective, but also from a features perspective. The completely redesigned Genesis is loaded with plenty of tech gadgets. Take your pick of a 311 horsepower 3.8-liter V-6 or a hefty 420 horsepower 5.0-liter V-8. The base version retails for about $38,000.

Hyundai’s more modest Sedan, the Sonata, has been refreshed this model year as well, and the interior quality has been improved along with a more comfortable ride. Buyers have their choice of three engines – a 2.4-liter 185 horsepower, a 2.0-liter turbocharged that generates 245 horses, and a 177 horsepower 1.6-liter turbocharged. An entry-level Sonata runs about $21,150.

The Acura ILX focuses on performance for 2016, with a more powerful standard base engine that was optional in its predecessor. The now standard 2.0-liter turbocharged is good for 201 horsepower, with an all-new eight-speed automatic transmission. The exterior is mildly revamped, and new tech and safety features have been added as available. Look for the Acura ILX in the first quarter of this year.
The brand new Jaguar XE makes its North American debut here. This is an important introduction since its Jaguar’s last ditch effort to capture a share of BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class business. The XE is a step down from the XF, and is offered with a choice of engines – including diesel – with manual and automatic transmissions. Look for the XE in 2016, and expect to pay about $40,000 starting out.
