Venezuela is in the grip of a bitter power struggle, following contested elections and deadly anti-government protests opposition leader Juan Guaido made an attempt to end the leadership of Nicolas Maduro by declaring himself president. A difficult task without the backing of the military and control of vital institutions in the country. However many western countries have backed Guaidó's bid for new electiopns. But China, Russia, and Turkey are supporting Maduro, condemning the nation's ongoing protests.
