Europe is stepping up the pressure on Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro. In the last few hours several EU countries including Germany, the UK and France have recognized opposition leader Juan Guaido as the interim leader of the country. They acted collectively after Maduro ignored a deadline to call a snap election. Earlier Maduro told other nations to stay out of the crisis. He warned Donald Trump he would have blood on his hands if the US invaded the country. Trump has left open the possibility of providing military backing.
