The UN Security Council held an emergency session to discuss the ongoing crisis in Venezuela. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called on the world pick sides and for the Security Council to support back self-proclaimed Interim President Juan Guaido. Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza accused the US of organizing a coup d'etat against Maduro. But Russia's UN ambassador is urging the world to stay out of the crisis. Moscow and Beijing are among Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro's chief backers. EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini says Maduro must announce new elections soon or the EU will recognize Guaido as interim president. Venezuela rejects the call.
