Nancy Easton relates how she co-founded Wellness in the Schools (WITS) with the goal of inspiring healthy eating, environmental awareness and fitness as a way of life for kids in public schools. As Executive Director, she has helped WITS grow from three schools to over sixty, serving approximately 30,000 students. Nancy has been hailed as a Food Revolution Hero by acclaimed chef-food activist Jamie Oliver, and a Lunchbox Hero by Ann Cooper, the "Renegade Lunch Lady", for her dedication to school lunch reform. She urges her audience to "dive in" and make sure that all of our schools promote health through nutritious school meals and active recess.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
