Presenting the Montclair State University String Quartet...
Robert Radliff originally hails from Naples, Fl where he began his violin studies with Ming Gao, Associate Concertmaster of the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra. He attended the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, where he received his Bachelors degree in Music Performance. Robert has since appeared at venues across the country including the Kennedy Center for the Arts in Washington, D.C. and Carnegie Hall in New York. He is a member of the Southwest Florida Symphony, and the South Florida Symphony Orchestra. He is pursuing his Masters degree at Montclair State University, and is the Graduate Orchestral Assistant of the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair.
Yang Zong began studying violin with Guoping Jiang when she was 4. Yang attended The Music School of East China Normal University, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance, and began studying to play violin with Guozhang Tan, concertmaster of Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. As a member of ECNU Symphony Orchestra, she actively participated in performances in Shanghai Concert Hall, Shanghai Grand Theater and Shanghai Oriental Art Center. She is currently pursuing a Artist Diploma Certificate at the John J. Cali Music School at Montclair State University, studying with Prof. Weigang Li, the first violinist of the world-renowned Shanghai Quartet.
Ivan Mendoza is from Lutherville, Maryland where he studied viola with Cameron Raecke of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra. While in Maryland, he sat Principal Viola for the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra, Greater Baltimore Youth Orchestra, and the Maryland All State Orchestra. He is currently working on his bachelor's degree in Viola Performance at Montclair State University, studying with Honggang Li of the Shanghai String Quartet.
From Vernon, NJ, cellist Jaime Compton began her music studies on the piano under the tutelage of Edward Korczynsky. At the age of 17, Jaime was accepted in music programs for both piano and cello, in the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University. Focusing her studies at the cello, Jaime studied in the studio of Shanghai Quartet cellist Nicholas Tzavaras. She graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor in Music Education at MSU. An avid chamber music player, Jaime Compton has participated in a number of music festivals including the Bowdoin International Music Festival and Bennington Chamber Music Conference. Jaime is the recipient of The Young Artist's Award Scholarship for the 2013-2014 year. She is beginning a Master's degree in cello performance as the John J. Cali School's teaching assistant and continues her cello studies with Nicholas Tzavaras.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
