Emily Ross '17 first picked up a camera as an aspiring member of her high school yearbook staff in 2009 and hasn't put it down since. During her three years on the staff she added a Josten's photo award, a feature on the photography blog Adorama, and an Explorica photography honor to her resume. Emily also worked as an event photographer for both TEDx Boulder and The Unexpected Laboratory. Her latest work has incorporated her journalistic experience into a more personal project, titled 18: A Photo Project, in which Emily documents each day of her 18th year with a self-portrait. You can find her at Carleton cheering on the Knights as a sports photographer, playing tennis or jumping rope in the rec, and playing her ukulele pretty much anywhere.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
