The Sport and Latitude models come equipped with a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine whereas the Limited model reviewed here gets the 2.4 liter that makes 172 horsepower and 165 lb-ft of torque. The transmission is a 6-speed automatic and fuel economy figures check in at 21 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway.The Compass is built on a Mitsubishi car platform. Ride and handling are solid and this is surely the most car-like vehicle in the Jeep line-up. Jeep's Freedom Drive I full-time 4WD system is standard and the optional Freedom Drive II Package costs and additional $550 but adds stuff like tow hooks, larger 17-inch wheels, skid plate, hill descent control, and all-terrain tires just to name a few.The Limited model's cabin is upbeat and upscale.
