On this installment of AMC Mail Bag (Saturday November 22nd 2014) we take the following viewer questions:
Michael Chesnier writes: I have been following you for the past 2 years. Love your show! I have a question regarding Jurassic World. I am wondering if the marketing team is making a mistake by not creating enough buzz around this movie. JW could be restarting what could be a great franchise (the first JP was a masterpiece). I keep hearing that the trailer is delayed so that it does not clash with other big blockbusters trailers. A lot of people do not know that a new Jurassic Park movie is coming out, and that's disheartening!
Jonathan Wilkins writes: Greetings Sons of Filthy! I absolutely love being "in the know" about all the exciting movie news y'all provide on a daily basis. Question: With all of the recent news regarding Spotify and the evolving music business, I'm curious how this works for film. For example, there are so many classic songs on GOTG "Awesome Mix Vol. 1"...what sort of costs are associated with using these in the soundtrack, and who are they paid to? Would love some insight!
Kyle Kizu writes: Hey everyone. I was curious as to whether or not you think that less than great reviews cause some overshadowing of fine points in a film. I just read an article that said, for example, that Josh Brolin is great in Inherent Vice, but because of not so great reviews, he might get looked over/he might not receive his fair share of conversation for how good his performance is. Do you think this happens sometimes with films?
Taylor Huston writes: Hey AMC! Do you think there is any chance that The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will beat the TERRIBLE Transformers: Age of Extinction at the box office?
Alma Diaz writes: Hi AMC movie talkers. I was watching one of your videos about video game movies that are most recognize from Playstation and Xbox games. My question is what about the most recognizable indie horror game called Five Nights At Freddy's? Could that be a good honor videogame movies? The way I see it is that it could be the next Saw and Paranormal Activity franchise where it comes every once a year. Thanks and bring the filthy.
Spiros Katsaras writes: Today I woke to hear the news of your theaters' partnership with Paramount on the Interstellar "unlimited" ticket. My first question would be whether you think this is an endeavor with longevity, or a gimmick to try to boost sales against some stiff competition. In a day and age when it's not uncommon for someone to say "I saw The Avengers [X amount of] times," do you think this could prove to be the "next big thing" in movie going?
Marcel Putrus writes: I was wondering what the chances are of Jennifer Lawrence getting a best supporting nom for Mockingjay part 1? Her performances in these films are no less amazing than her performances in Silver Linings and American Hustle. What are the chances of a best picture nom? I feel like these films are so rich and have so much to say, that it deserves a shot.
William Prentice writes: What's up gang. I love Angelina Jolie in the movie Salt. What do you think about a Salt 2?
