SATURDAY’S MAIL BAG
Ellisa Stanovitch writes: Greetings AMC from sunny Florida! My question is about all the new shows in AMC Phase 3 and how they come about. Who comes up with the new shows, who decides which shows get the green light, and who decides who hosts those shows? Saw AMC Heroes and absolutely loved it! Can’t wait for all the rest! Filthy is the new black!
Tom writes: Do you think 'Star Wars' is going to hurt Avatars BoxOffice? There is going to be a Star Wars (or Spin off) movie every year, so they will meet at the BoxOffice!
Lee DeWald writes: When it comes to certain movies, especially commercial, does the director really matter? As long as he or she is a competent filmmaker, it feels as though ANYONE could step into the director's chair and produce a film that, financially, will be a success. For example, look at the "Harry Potter" film series; four different directors helmed the series at one point, and there was not a significant drop-off in the amount of money the movies made. The last four films in the series were directed by David Yates, a filmmaker most casual fans hadn't heard of, and his lowest-grossing movie still made $934 million at the worldwide box office. It feels like ANY competent director can helm a commercial movie, and it will STILL be a financial success. Does the director really matter?
James Mckenzie writes : Hey AMC Movie Crew love the show, my Question is about the solo Batman film that's coming. BVS is Inspired by The Dark Knight Returns so I'm guessing the solo Batman Movie will be to. In The Dark Knight Returns all his Enemy's were up in age as well. Do u think Michelle Pfeiffer would be good Reprising her role as an older Selina Kyle thats Retired. Would it match older Bruce Wayne/Ben Affleck. I would love to see that what about you guys? Could it work some how?
Kami Trio writes: Greetings AMC Crew! I was wondering what your thoughts are on the novelization of films as opposed to books being turned into movies. I myself have never bothered to pick up a film novelization but If you have are there any differences? For example in the Pacific Rim novelization Pentecost called the category 5 Kaiju Slattern (meaning dirty woman) but he didnt name her in the movie. Thanks and keep up the good work!
Omar Correa writes: Hey guys I'm a big fan and have been watching you since the beginning. My question is about the budding on-screen romance between Bruce banner and Black Widow in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Do you think Marvel is biting off more than they can chew? They already have enough character arcs on their hands, but to be taking on a romantic angle with two of their characters seems like a bit much? I know they're not main characters with their own movie franchises, but still it seems like it would just be a distraction in a movie that is already going to have so much going on in it. I know we'll have to see the movie to get a real take on it, but I would still love to hear your initial thoughts on this.
Aaron Tanzmann writes: Hey AMC Movie Talkers, love your show. My question is about "A Million Ways To Die In The West". I absolutely loved this film and was really suprised by all the negative reviews it got. Everyone just talks about how "bad" and "disappointing" it was, but how come no one ever mentions its technical brilliance? The production design was great, the cinematography was amazing and the soundtrack, in my opinion, is a masterpiece and a great homage to the old western scores by Elmer Bernstein. Am I the only one thinking this way? Because I never heard anyone else mention these aspects in their reviews. I would love to hear your thoughts on that. Keep up the great work.
Ben Nejma Fedi writes: Hi Amc! Do you think that if American Sniper didn't get nominated for the oscars, Interstellar would had take it's place?
