Under the hood 2.0 liter 4-cylinder GDi engine with an electric motor and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The combined total is 202 horsepower and 276 lb-ft. of torque. The MPGe rating is 103 while operating with the battery assist and when operating as a conventional hybrid the fuel economy ratings are 38 MPG in the city and 43 MPG on the highway. With a fully charged battery the Kia Optima Plug-In Hybrid has 610 miles of range. Electric only range is 29 miles.

The Technology Package adds a 10-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, adaptive headlamps, a sunroof, adaptive cruise control, blind spot mirrors, lane departure warning, and autonomous emergency braking.
