The Golf TDI was never designed to be a quick car. This little hatch instead is one of the best fuel misers on the road netting over 40 MPG easily. Even so there is a potent 2.0 liter turbodiesel engine under the hood that puts out 150 horsepower and 236 lb-ft. of torque. The quick shifting 6-speed DSG transmission is also a big help.

A best 0-60 MPH run of 8.6 seconds occurred with the Drive Mode set to "Sport" and the Traction Control switched "Off"
