Technically the Ford Focus is an American car since it's built in Michigan and sold all over the U.S. Really though you should think of the Focus as a European model. If you buy a Ford Focus in Europe there are a bunch of different gas and diesel engine options to choose from. Here in the U.S. the only available choice is a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder that makes 160 horsepower and 146 lb-ft. of torque. Fuel economy is 26 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway. The base price on the Ford Focus is $16,800 and the SE Sedan model tested here goes for $18,615.

Ford offers the Focus with an automatic or a manual transmission. One concession that was made for the American market was the fact that a sedan model is being offer. The car is still a compact so there is not a ton of room in the back seat. The bottom seat cushion is supportive and there is descent leg room.

The 2014 Ford Focus does drive well. The Steering is wonderful and precise, the chassis is outstanding with great body control, and the 160 HP engine is adequate.
