A booster car seat is designed for the older child beginning around the age of 5 or 6. Booster Car Seats are important because they keep the lap belt low on the thighs and the shoulder belt centered between the top of the neck and the arm. The back has a substantial amount of adjustment to accommodate a variety of child sizes. When the time is right you can remove the rear back portion and use just the booster portion.
