Herbert Diess, CEO of one of the world’s most well-known car companies, Volkswagen, claims not to know of the detention in China of up to a million Uighurs and other Muslim ethnicities in so-called re-education camps. Set up, in the north-west in Xinjiang, a UN panel has called them ‘internment camps.’ Former inmates have alleged being tortured in them.
