The Alamillo Bridge in Seville, Spain is as striking as it is strange, but the uniqueness that makes this bridge so interesting can almost be called an accident.

The original plan was to have two such bridges on opposite sides of the island.

The second bridge was cancelled, leaving the Alamillo Bridge the sole bearer of its singular design.

It was constructed for Expo 92 and remains an excellent symbol of human ingenuity.

Today, the Alamillo Bridge serves as the transition between new and old Seville.
