Makafui talks about the 'wrong' way of learning in most Ghanaian and African schools, states why students are continually performing poorly academically and reveals the secrets to effecting learning in schools.

Makafui AWUKU is the founder of Student's Initiatuve, an NGO dedicated to assit students rediscover their role in national development. He is a BSc Marketing Degree holder from the University for Professional Studies, Accra and serves as a project manager with an advertising company where his creative mind continues to break the age old methods of advertising. He has through his NGO's activity being able to move several youth from a state of dormancy to a state of effective leadership.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
