Florida has an established Burmese python breeding population roaming through the Everglades in search of prey and shelter. Other python species such as African Rock python and reticulated pythons have been captured occasionally. While it has been confirmed that African rock python hatchling have been captured in the wild as well, confirming that those constrictors are breeding in the Everglades too. Reticulated python are rarely captured and if so, those are most likely former pet snakes, which had been let go or escaped individuals. The tiger reticulated python in this video was reported by people working on a South Florida tree farm and feeding on young opossums, which are plentiful to find in such locations. Python eats opossum was filmed by Heiko Kiera aka Ojatro in 2012.
