The debut album of P-Type [Heavy Bass], the first MC who you can imagine for 'rhyme' of Korean hip-hop, marks the 10th anniversary. For the 10 years, he has been on the path steadily just as Don Quixote in the novel of Cervantes by continuously studying rhythm and approaching hip-hop as more than music.
Of course, the period of blank between albums is quite long and he once excluded hip-hop inside his world of music for a while. Nevertheless, P-Type is the master as well as the scholar who has studied Korean rhyme and rap, and examined the Korean hip hop culture more fiercely than anyone. He makes a comeback with the 4th regular album [Street Poetry] after 1 year 8 months.

韓国ヒップホップで‘ライム’と言えば思い浮かぶ人物の中で最初に連想されるMC、P-Typeのデビュー作『Heavy Bass』が、いつのまにか10周年を迎えた。絶えず韻を研究し、ヒップホップを音楽それ以上の文化として接近しようとするなど、彼は10年間セルバンテスの小説の中のドンキホーテのように自分の道を黙々と歩いた。

もちろん、アルバムとアルバムの間の休みが長いほうで、一時は自分の音楽世界の中からヒップホップを排除したこともあった。それにもかかわらず、 P-Typeはこれまで韓国語ライムとラップの研究、韓国でのヒップホップ文化に対する省察を誰よりも熾烈にしてきた職人であり、研究者である。そんな彼が1年8ヶ月ぶりに4枚目のフルアルバム『Street Poetry』を持って帰ってきた。
한국 힙합에서 ‘라임’하면 떠오르는 인물의 대열에서도 가장 첫 번째로 연상되는 MC, 피타입(P-Type)의 데뷔작 [Heavy Bass]가 어느새 10주년을 맞았다. 끊임없이 운율을 연구하고, 힙합을 음악 그 이상의 문화로 접근하려는 등 그는 10년이란 시간 동안 세르반테스의 소설 속 돈키호테같이 자신의 길을 묵묵히 걸었다.
물론, 앨범과 앨범 사이의 공백기가 긴 편이고, 또 한때는 자신의 음악 세계 안에서 힙합을 놓은 적도 있었다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 피타입은 지금까지 한국말 라임과 랩에 대한 연구, 한국에서의 힙합 문화에 대한 성찰을 그 누구보다도 치열하게 해온 장인이자 연구자다. 그런 그가 1년 8개월여 만에 네 번째 정규 앨범 [Street Poetry]를 들고 돌아왔다.
