India election 2019: How popular is Modi in his own Varanasi district?

Today is the final day of voting in India’s general Lok Sabha election. It's the biggest election in the world, with 900 million eligible voters. One of the seats being contested today is the city of Varanasi, holy to Hindus, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is up for reelection. Modi is expected to win comfortably, but a controversial development project in the Kashi corridor around the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, which is devoted to the Hindu god Shiva, has dented his popularity, and not everyone is thrilled with their star parliamentarian. DW’s Nimisha Jaiswal traveled to Varanasi and filed this report.
