New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was quick to refer to the internet's role in what she called a "terrorist attack" and "one of New Zealand's darkest days." She implored people not to spread footage of the shootings online. Many world leaders have joined her in condemning the attack and offering their condolences to the victims' families.
