A million people joined demonstrations in Hong Kong against the growing influence of Beijing. They are concerned the territory's special status and limited freedoms will be eroded. Who will win this power-struggle?

Andreas Kluth is a freelance journalist and author who has worked in Hong Kong. He says: "Despite the heroic resistance of Hong Kong's people, and especially its young, China will eventually limit, then extinguish, Hong Kong's liberty."
The activist Ray Wong was involved in the Umbrella Movement in Hong Kong in 2014. He has now received asylum in Germany. He says: "We don't want Hong Kong to become like another city in China."
