Maarten Vanhoof has quite a different view on creativity, education and innovation. Why? Because he has a hearing disability. At TEDxUHasselt, Maarten explained this unexpected connection.

One thing is for sure: his unique views pay off. At the age of 22, he was awarded two master degrees; in science and in the arts. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD as the youngest member of the SENSE team in the Orange Innovation Lab in Paris. He mixes ideas from geography, sociology and design with computational and data visualisation techniques to understand the interplay between human mobility and social networks.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
