"Who is responsible for the crisis?" and "What does Europe do to stop the decline of our industries?" were two typical questions from 600 citizens who discussed with Commission President José Manuel Barroso, Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders and the Walloon Minister for the Economy, Jean-Claude Marcourt, in the Théatre de Liège. The participants in the Citizens' Dialogue held in the largest metropolitan area of Wallonia on 17 October debated with a Commission President who was convinced that "fiscal consolidation is not enough to overcome the crisis" and felt that "we need to re-industrialise Europe".
