China amplifies threats against Hong Kong protesters | DW News

Hong Kong International Airport is again open for business a day after thousands of anti-government protesters forced the airport to shut down. The sit-ins have ramped up in intensity in response to police violence in other parts of the city. The demonstrations began two months ago over a controversial extradition bill. Now they're a mass movement decrying Beijing's attempts to tighten its control of Hong Kong. Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam has said instability, chaos and violence is putting the city on "a path of no return" if the escalating violence is not brought under control.
