Australia’s tropical forests may seem empty at first, but they burst with life, particularly insects that employ remarkable survival strategies. Jumping spiders mimic ants, while ants construct tree-top camps using their larvae as glue. The vibrant Cairns Birdwing Butterfly, the largest in Australia, has only four to six weeks to breed, and its caterpillars turn toxic by eating poisonous leaves. After four weeks in a chrysalis, the butterfly emerges, a stunning sight as its wings dry for flight. Among the forest's inhabitants are formidable spiders like the communal Tent Spiders, the ambush-hunting Eastern Tarantula, and the clever Portia Spider, known for its impressive problem-solving abilities.
