American alligators will become fairly aggressive during feeding and try to chase competition away from the food source. Feeding in larger groups will most likely end in a feeding frenzy, in which every alligator tries to rip a piece of meat of the prey followed by wild splashing and death roll. Sometimes an alligator might loose a leg or sustain other injuries like show in this video. Aggressive behavior of alligators is also common during mating behavior, in which the strongest male fight of the weaker one to secure its position in the ranking order.
