What happens if I swallow chewing gum? | Greg Foot | Head Squeeze

So what actually happens when you swallow chewing gum?

The big answer is nothing really. As you chew you absorb all the sugars and flavouring. If you swallow, the chewing gum just passes through your digestive system and quite literally poops out the other end. Loverly.

There is no nutritional value in chewing gum at all, so you don't gain anything by actually eating it. However, although it passes through the system we wouldn't recommend swallowing all the time. Masses of chewing gum can build up inside your gut and, in a worst case scenario, form gastric bezoars which are not good.
