This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. In 1989, at the same time democracy returned to Paraguay, the World Wide Web was born in Europe. Today, 25 years later, a new generation strives toward a stronger democracy in Paraguay by taking advantage of the benefits that the Internet provides us. Access to information has changed with the Internet and for that reason, it is time to star exploring new possibilities of representation and decision.

Fulbright from Paraguay to the US, 2013. E-Government, Education Technology, Social Media Researcher, Florida State University. Santiago is passionate about furthering political representation through his work developing a web voting platform along with the "Despertar Ciudadano" movement in his native Paraguay.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
