This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. We have entered an Age of Data. Democracy should be thriving, in this brave new world where citizens are empowered to solve problems on their own, are served by more accountable governments and can trust more transparent public officials thanks to open government data. But democracies are facing unprecedented challenges.

Fulbright Scholar from France to the US, 2006. Head of Innovation, French Prime Minister's task force for Open Government Data. Following a graduate degree in Technology and Policy from MIT, Romain established a Silicon Valley Startup before returning to his native France. Now, he facilitates the evolution of democracy by the public's use of data.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
