This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Imagine a world without landfills, where waste carbon is recycled to create oils that serve as building blocks for everyday products. Dr. Lisa Dyson, CEO of Kiverdi, is using the power of biotechnology to develop microbes that are able to convert waste carbon into oil. The process is similar to making beer, but instead of brewing beer, Kiverdi is using microbes to brew oil.

Fulbright from the US to the UK, 1997. CEO, Kiverdi. With extensive experience in scientific research at top institutions and in business with leading consultancies, Lisa now devotes her energy to developing alternative fuels and bio-products that reduce our reliance on oil, lower CO2 emissions, and realistically meet rising energy needs.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
