Born in Belfast, Susie left, age 18, to study French at Hull University, where her love of drama grew, and she decided to have a go at it professionally. Beginning in childrens theatre with the Crucible in Sheffield, she worked in England for three years before returning to Belfast. Her theatrical career spans thirty years. She has performed many times at the Lyric, and with other local theatre companies; Tinderbox, Big Telly, Charabanc, Replay, Dubbeljoint, and most recently Kabosh in " Two Roads West for Derry city of culture. As well as theatre, she has performed in radio and television drama for BBC, and has some film work in her credits. She spent two years as a newsreader and presenter for BBC N. Ireland.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
