Voting is underway in Tunisia as citizens elect a new parliament. Today's poll comes just weeks after the first round of presidential elections, where voters turned their backs on traditional parties in favor of independent candidates. The trend is expected to continue. Candidates are contesting 217 seats in the country's parliament. The legislature has been dominated by the Islamist Ennahdha Party. It is ruling in alliance with the secular party, Nida Tounes. High unemployment and a lack of public services are fueling discontent. For many Tunisians, frustration is rising along with inflation and unemployment. And in a male-dominated society, campaigners have been trying to ensure women have a stronger voice in politics. DW's Aya Ibrahim provides some analysis.
