British prime minister Theresa May is preparing to make another appeal to European Union leaders to help her sell her controversial Brexit deal at home. May is set to join a an EU summit in Brussels today. The move comes one day after she survived a confidence motion brought by members of her own party who were unhappy with her Brexit plans. May was securing the support of 200 of her 317 MPs. The vote makes her immune from another leadership challenge for at least a year. But the battle over her controversial Brexit deal continues. May says she will seek more assurances from Brussels on the so-called backstop designed to prevent a hard border on the island of Ireland.
