Emily has been working in hip-hop education and teaching an after school media arts program focused on digital storytelling, where students have opportunities to tell stories using photographs, video, music, and voice to tell stories in new and engaging ways.
Emily Bailin is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Education & Communication program at Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City. She has a background in media literacy education, working with teachers on how to bring more popular culture and technology into the classroom, and working with young people on how to critically think about and create media. Most recently, Emily has been working in hip-hop education and teaching an after school media arts program focused on digital storytelling, where students have opportunities to tell stories using photographs, video, music, and voice to tell stories in new and engaging ways.
