Spoken Word Poetry | Erica D'Acosta | TEDxSoleburySchool

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Erica shares her passion for spoken word poetry, poetry that can't be written down but spoken and acted out. The poem that she reads was inspired by a speaker at a conference she attended.

Erica Angela D'Costa is 15 years old and lives in Moorestown, NJ. She is a junior in high school, attending Moorestown Friends School. She is an athlete, a performer, actress, and student. Volunteering is her passion, as giving back to her community is something she has been raised to do. She spends her weekend hours at the Voorhees Pediatric Facility, working with underdeveloped and differently abled children, in addition to working with company CONTACT to answer calls on a crisis line. Her enrollment and leadership in clubs at her school such as Diversity Committee, PRIDE club (GSA club) MLK club, Ethics Bowl, Debate Club, Model UN, and more, have strengthened her passion to have a voice in her community, and she sees her TEDx experience as a perfect additional opportunity.
