Drawing on his own childhood experiences of being caught between two cultures, and struggling to achieve success in the UK, Ismael talks about the value immigrants can have in a society, and how listening to their stories can help to reveal this deep value.

Ismael Musoke is a sixth form student from Uganda who shares his new perspective on challenges experienced living in the UK. He received the London Citizens Young Leader of the Year Award 2013 and has spoken at Croydon Council offices to pressure authorities to adopt the living wage.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
