Elisabeth Mahoney is a journalist (feature writer and critic on titles including The Guardian, The Sunday Times, The Scotsman) turned baker turned entrepreneur.

In 2012, she launched The One Mile Bakery, delivering handmade bread, soup and jam by bike within a mile of her Cardiff home, and has since taught hundreds of people to bake bread in classes she teaches there.

2014 will see the first OMB franchises opening across the UK, spreading the core values of her micro-bakery and her passions: the power of local; the power of social media for business, and the power of re-connecting with the food we eat and the people who make it.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
