California sea lions are native to western North America with a natural habitat ranges from south Alaska to central Mexico, including the Gulf of California. Sea lion males are larger than females and they have a polygynous breeding pattern. From May to August, males establish territories and try to attract females to mate with. They feed on a number of species of fish and squid, and are preyed on by killer whales and great white sharks. Sometimes a sea lion is able to escape the attack of from a great white but its horrific wounds will be a life long reminder of the constant danger of the sea. California Sea Lions was filmed by Heiko Kiera aka Ojatro in January 2014.
