The migrant rescue boat Alex, belonging to the NGO Mediterranea, has docked in Italy, ignoring a month-old law imposed by Matteo Salvini, Italy's minister of the interior, banning such ships from port. More than 40 migrants disembarked overnight from the vessel in Lampedusa. Their arrival comes just days after Italy seized the rescue boat Sea Watch 3 in similar circumstances, and put its captain, Carola Rackete, under investigation for aiding illegal immigration.
