The German rescue ship Alan Kurdi picked up 44 migrants in the Mediterranean Sea. It is its second rescue operation in two days. The charity Sea-Eye, which operates the vessel, says it has been working with Malta to get the migrants ashore. After the first rescue, they were denied entry to the Italian port of Lampedusa - which has become the new frontline in Europe's struggle to deal with the migrant crisis. DW reporter Amien Essif has been to Lampedusa to meet some of the people who've made the dangerous journey from Africa to Europe - and some of the island's residents.
