Police in Hong Kong have opened fire on protesters, shooting and wounding at least one person after confrontations between demonstrators and police escalated.
Unverified video footage shows police firing live rounds at protesters on the eastern side of Hong Kong island, leaving one person lying on the ground. Another video circulating on Twitter shows a man being set alight by someone unknown. Activists have been calling for a citywide strike on Monday and urging people to disrupt public transport.
