British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is heading to Paris to continue talks on Brexit. Johnson is calling for the Brexit deal to be re-negotiated. He says the provision for the Irish border - known as the backstop - has to go. It's a demand the French president rejects. But at a meeting in Berlin on Wednesday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said she thought Britain could still leave the EU with a deal.
Both Merkel and Johnson seemed optimistic that a solution could be found, though none yet has emerged. If no side moves, the UK may head for a no-deal Brexit at the end of October.
