Messed Up Things That Happened After 9/11

The attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City that occurred on September 11, 2001 were horrifying in their own right. Almost 3,000 people died on that day, and hundreds of others died later from injuries or disease resulting from exposure to the site. Unfortunately, the human fallout of 9/11 was not limited to those who were present at the time of the explosions. The two decades that followed the attacks brought war and political upheaval that defined the era, and saw many lives lost overseas, among United States soldiers and the residents of Afghanistan and other embroiled regional nations. If you aren't old enough to remember the day, these are messed up things that happened after 9/11.
