Makers, Artmakers, Peacemakers: A Radical Shift in Perspective: Erin Cooney at TEDxSanDiego 2013

A self-proclaimed "recovering perfectionist," Erin Cooney left behind the illusion that her own beliefs in reality were central. After accepting herself as a "failure," the massive expectations she put on herself dissolved. Now that she had removed her own ego from the forefront, Cooney dove deeper into perspective and the powerful role it plays, often without us even knowing. She created "The Simultania Project," asking individuals from all over the world to film their own first-person perspectives during the same precise-one-minute moment in time. Editing together more than 300 viewpoints created a powerful piece that forever changed her view of reality.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
