Lucy Birmingham is a long-time, Tokyo-based journalist and arts and culture writer. She writes regularly for TIME magazine and and her articles have appeared in the Wall Street Journal and Newsweek, ARTnews and Artscape International to name a few. She has worked in both television and radio for NHK. She has published books including her co-authored, "Strong in the Rain: Surviving Japan's Earthquake, Tsunami, and Fukushima Nuclear Disaster." She wrote and photographed the children's book "Hirofumi and Masayo: Brother and Sister in Japan," that was translated into six languages. She has been the president of the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan since June 2013 and a member since 1980s.
