This video captures a foreigner doing an unusual feat at Malacca's Jonker Street. Firstly, you will notice two frying pans that look like "kualis" jointed together. The surface of the pans are designed with some indentations that make them look like out of this world flying saucers !
In fact they are called overpans, literally overturned frying pans. And they are a new age musical instrument that have been drawing crowds at street music venues such as in Koh Pangga,Thailand. Surprisingly they are here in Malacca ! The sounds produced are cosmic, mystical and cool.
These imaginative street musicians even have their DVD for sale! Watch this video and listen to the vibrations of a different world !
